Learning to get the body shape of animals is the first step, and probably the most difficult. But once you've got that down, you're ready to start adding the details that make drawings go from good to great. Drawing a good face is the best way to do just that.

Steps Download Article

  1. 1

Start off drawing 2 teardrop shaped things for the eyes.

  2. 2

Draw 2 evenly spaced lines near the bottom of the inside of each teardrop shape for the irises.

  3. 3

Draw 2 small circles about a centimeter above the irises. This is the detailed part of the eyes.

  4. 4

Make the nose. This is just an upside-down rounded-off triangle.

  5. 5

Draw 2 evenly spaced dots inside of that triangle to make the nostrils. Make it small, but not so small you can't see it.

  6. 6

Draw a line coming down from the nose coming down to the left in a curve, the same on the other side.

  7. 7

Add 3 dots in the curve of those parts.

  8. 8

Find the acute angle in between the curved lines. You may or may not draw a curved/straight line there and that will be colored pink.

  9. 9

Outline. Use a sharp dark pencil (preferably ebony, but any kind will do.) to go around every line you've made.

  10. 10

Use a slightly lighter pencil to color in the eyes. You can use the scribble effect, or the outline and then color in effect.

  11. 11

Color the irises green or blue, in colored pencil if available. And leave the other circles white for detail.

  12. 12

Color the nose scribble black or full pink.

  13. 13

Finally, the angle on the mouth, if you added it, is pink/red. Or to be fancy make a red and pink shady gradient.

  14. 14

    Finished.

How do I draw the actual head?

    Community Answer

You can sketch the cartoon below or find other images of animal drawings online that you can copy. Essentially you'll want to draw a basic head shape with the proper ears and some tufts of fur. Of course, the exact method and details will depend on the animal that you're drawing.

  • Question

How do I draw the whole face either than the directed steps?

    Community Answer

Be creative. You can draw it however you want to.

  • The scribble effect is cute, fill effect is too. Maybe experiment to see what's better or make a combination. Just have fun!
